Each jurisdiction requirement are different. In Texas in the 70's, not sure about now...but Grand Lodge requires at least 28 days (lunar month) between degrees. For me:
Initiated: May 1978
Passed: July 1978
Raised: August 1978
It took me a month to learn to get with my coach after getting my...
You are absolutely correct Brother Ed. Good to see you commenting on this thread. For everyone else, Brother Nelson and I belong to the Shasta Craftsmen. He's a good Brother and and a good Mason. I'm proud to ride with him.
Just do it in a private setting so as not to embarass the brother. Remember that you are whipering good counsel in his ear and are are attempting to bring about a refirmation.
A brother can belong to as many lodges as he can afford. I would caution you that you will have to keep dues current in every lodge. If you get suspended for non-payment of dues, the lodge has to notify the other lodges as to your suspension.
Using me as an example, I belong to three lodges. To...
Congratulations my Brother. Work on and turn in your proficiency. Get active and stay active in your lodge. The Brothers did a lot for you. Now you can show them that they invested their time wisely.
That is exactly what I am saying. As you know there are only the 3 degrees of Masonry approved by Grand Lodges.....not counting the approved York and Scottish Rite degrees. Those Widow's Sons were making up their own ritual to become a member. We must all remember that we are beholding to our...
I helped organize our chapter of the Masonic Widow's Sons club. It is Masons riding with Masons. We have a national organization with specific by-laws. Not surprising they resemble lodge by-laws. We are recognized in all jurisdictions. However, some chapters got themselves into trouble and have...
Congratulations Brother. Just remember you get out of Masonry only what you put into it. Get active and find a niche for yourself. Teach new members their proficiencies or get into the officer's line. Find something that you really like to do. Don't go away and become a "card carrying"member...
It's almost universal in all jurisdictions to have the candidate remove all metallic objects during initiations. You must use descretion. If removing a wedding band would offend the candidate, wrap the ring with tape and explain to him that this is symbolic of him not having the metal in...
I think that the important thing is that you learn your work and turn in a proficiency in an open lodge to the satisfaction of the members present. I know of no requirement to attend study classes. I can say for certain that the GL of California does not have such requirements. I learned all of...
Thanks for the advice. I'll pass it along to the Master and Secretary. I have to agree with yáll. Seems like a lot of (you know what) to me too. I did get an email from our Sect. and he said that we were going to install 4 units this past weekend which will help making the dining hall and...
No. I ran the Coca-Cola plant. I had all of the southern part of Oklahoma down to Ringling and over to Altus. As far north as Anadarko. I liked Duncan a lot. Great people and they drank a lot of Coke and Dr Pepper!
Yes, it was the condenser units outside. I am just going by what our Secretary told me in the email as far as the insurance is concerned. When we installed them, they were inside of a chain link fence. But that was back in the mid 80's.
BTW, How are things in Duncan, America? I lived in Lawton...
It is sad to post this, but, I feel that I must.
Some time during the weekend of August 4, vandals invaded South Houston Lodge 1295, and removed all of the copper coils from our air conditioning units. Unfortunately, our insurance will not cover the replacement costs due to the fact that we did...
