    Public knowledge

Verbal abuse only works if you let it, and there lies the difference. The whole tax exemption thing I agree with; unless a religious organization can prove the they give more in charity than they take in they should not be granted any tax exemption what-so ever. Our communities are suffering...

Grand Master of Florida Bans Certain Religions

Not quite; we are "duty-bound" (obliged) to follow the edicts and laws of Our Grand Lodge. Florida on the other hand may have to deal with UGLE recognition, and that my brother will be an albatross they wish they hadn't dealt with... A rather "sticky wicket" if you will :-)

Is Masonry "guilty" of teaching toleration?

Really? The purging of the Moors, the tortured conversions; right anti-Spanish propaganda. That had nothing to do with England nor "English-speakers. Funny thing when I was in Spain the Inquisition was explained to me as a Political/Religious purification, nothing that was reflected in your...

Is Masonry "guilty" of teaching toleration?

Really? I was the impression that the penalties were the reflection of the methodologies used during the "inquisition", by whom? Pardon me whilst I get some, "rack time" :-)

Grand Lodge of Arkansas dictates upon Shrinedom

Yes you're quite right about the (Obligations) rituals but I could see "associate membership" a philanthropic type membership where there doesn't need the Masonic requirement. Like I said they have dropped the YR & SR prerequisite; one has to wonder, what next?

    leaving for Jamaica

Went to Negril when there was nothing there other than 5 miles of white sandy beach. Enjoy yourself. Remember the Jamaican fire department comes to anything that involves smoke, even Ganja!!!

Grand Lodge of Arkansas dictates upon Shrinedom

Yes, I think it's just a matter of time. They don't have the financial resources (endowments, etc.) that they used to have to support their charities, it's a shame too. If you think Freemasonry cannot replenish their membership rolls, look at the Shrine it's in worse shape. Why do you think they...

Grand Lodge of Arkansas dictates upon Shrinedom

Its jurisdiction ends within Arkansas and applies only to their Grand jurisdiction. I.e. only the Brethren that are also Shriners and Brothers that come under the jurisdiction of Arkansas. Did I confuse you?

Importance of sitting in the East

Maybe because that alone entitles you (a P.M.) a vote in Grand Lodge? It is also an esteemed rank in most of the EU. In some jurisdictions you have to have either been a P.M. or go through an honorary degree of the same before proceeding to the next higher degree.

    Scottish rite craft degrees

I just bought: You know about the Scottish Rite Lodges in Louisiana, but what about the French Rite Lodges? http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Orient-Louisiana-History-Catechism/dp/1934935239 You can browse through part of it online.

Brother Michael Poll of Louisiana is one of the authorities on this subject, he has written books on the history of these “Red Lodges”. He has a Facebook page, friend him and you’ll see all kinds of neat stuff...
